Happy Thanksgiving to all...
a small History lesson!

Your Fort Worth E-Board wants to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time with your family. We will be here when you get back!

That is one statement that the Fort Worth Chapter can say and it has always been true. We have been a chapter for 16 years and we have always been a strong chapter, involved in the association and doing our part to insure the motto of TCWDA and that is to continue to promote country and western dance.  Even during all the years that we did not have a home base and had to float our dancing all over the DFW Metroplex we kept this dream.  These are some of the clubs we have called home base; Westside Stories, Midnight Rodeo, Cheyenne Cattle Company, Cowboys in Arlington, a club next to Billy Bob's (I forgot the name (Butch Cassidies)), Billy Bob's, several small clubs in Fort Worth, Crowley, Azle and even in Dallas at Country 2000.

We became a great dance family and vowed to continue to hold it together until our beloved club on Bryant Irvin Road would open again. We worked hard at promoting our goals and even harder at working within the system of TCWDA and with each other.  It's really great that when your efforts are to have fun with your friends and bring the dance to the city there is no time for the pettiness to enter the picture. We have been a very blessed chapter with good strong leaders to keep it going all these years.

We learned from the best. I wish you could have known the Dallas Chapter members. They had some amazing individuals and that is where Ron & I got the idea to bring other dances like 2-Step, Cha-Cha, and others to our chapter. We loved Shuffle but we saw there was more.

You do know some of the early Arlington members like Terri Bordeaux and Charlie Williams. They did so much to promote dance and TCWDA and still do. Arlington like Dallas suffered the fate of leadership burnout. If no one comes in to help carry the load then eventually the leader wears out. We need to grow more leaders to carry on for those getting tired.

We need to bring the young people in with their new ideas and ways to keep the dream going. Having multiple people to carry the load is also a way to handle the job. Your Fort Worth Chapter has always had a group that put their heart and soul into this chapter and molded her into the loving dance family she is today.

Charlie Williams after a bit of a rest started up the Stockyards Chapter several years ago and Terri Bordeaux brought the Cowboy Country Club to join TCWDA as the Arlington Chapter again.  Two Strong leaders once again doing a great job for the dance community.

Then Midland-Odessa Chapter came on the scene...(now there is a chapter of dance family deluxe. You really should meet these people. They are the best).

Then Denton Chapter came on the scene and the Westside Shufflers burst into the association with a good strong leader and started their own history.

All chapters with a purpose to promote country and western dance by "Just Dancing and having fun with friends". That's why we are here...not to best another chapter but to "Just Dance with our friends".  If I could say one thing to all members it would be to enjoy your dance family for the good, the bad and yes sometimes the ugly of it. You get out of something exactly what you put into it so get involved and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Before long you will be an integral part of the association.

Chapter Weekend Dancing???

Friday night... we have decided to visit our sister chapter the Westside Shufflers at Electric Cowboy’s on Friday nights for a while. As you know we usually leave around 9:30 to 10:00 as it gets more crowded by then and the restaurants clear out so it’s a win win situation for both of us.

Saturday night...you will find us at The Horseman Club doing our thing. This is our home base so come out and join us for a fun night of dancing and being with friends.

Need email addresses for upcoming events!!!

If you would like to be informed about upcoming events or reminders on top of the dance announce list then send me your email address and I will see that you get a reminder. We have more workshops coming up and you need to be informed about these. A lot of time is spent putting these together for you and I know if you just know about them sooner you would want to attend. Ron and I and Donnie and Melinda and so many others have gone to so many workshops over the years and I never come away without some new knowledge or a reminder of something I knew to do but just had let that idea or technique slip away. You know we are not getting any younger and the minds are starting to go...so come to the workshops to try and stay ahead of this old age thing.

Road Trip

We are looking for ideas for a road trip. We love taking these short weekend excursions around Texas. If you know of a fun club you have been to before and it’s a town we can drive to on a Saturday, dance that night at the club and see some sights the next day in the area and then drive back let me know.  Just send an email to me at: CronBekiC@charter.net
