31st through September 3rd. The next Sokol will be the Fall Party
September 23rd. Be sure not to miss the Sleazy Bar Party at Sokol on

Hawaii Trip
Chris Myers and Lynda Kauffman of the Fort Worth Chapter (our social chair persons) have
put together a Hawaii trip to Maui and Oahu for October 2006. They have gotten some great
prices for the whole trip including airfare and car rental included. You may have seen the
information on our dance announce list emails and there will be something I'm sure in our
newsletter on it. But here is the contact information to the travel agent handling this for us:
Good friends are like stars...You don't always see them but you always know they are there.
A group of us went to a Sokol Dance on Saturday night, July 22 in Dallas. Bob Ough, our Fort
Worth
Chapter Website Master Designer and TCWDA’s Website Master Designer has been trying to
tell us how
good it was for some time now. Well...we went and had a blast. The floor surface was perfect,
the DJ’s
were amazing and the crowd was the best. The air-conditioning was awesome but with the music
so great
and so many friends to dance with we still got really hot as we were dancing song after song.
They played
country and swing and the swing music is good swing music. It really lets you get into the dance.
The
waltz’s, two-steps, cha-cha’s, nite-club’s, mambo’s, hustle’s, and east coast’s were all
great. The place is
very big and is actually an athletic place. We all loved it and we will definitely be going back.
This event
happens once a month and you can count on us to be there. I will try to make sure that we get the
word out
now that we have tried it and liked it. Thanks, Bob and sorry we did not listen to you
sooner.
Well, the chapter has been busy all summer with different people out on vacations so we really
haven’t
planned very much. Also with it being so hot, that has also taken a real hit as far as any outdoor
activity.
When it gets cooler we will plan our Dam party. Probably in the early fall. Get ready for it as we
will be
doing the Grocery Sack Shuffle. Those of you that have been in the chapter over 11 years will
know all
about that. All of our members since then...well you’re in for a treat. Our Dam party will have
dancing.
Our all members meeting dance will be in October and the Fort Worth Chapter will be hosting it
again this
year. I also believe it will be a costume event again. So get your Halloween Groove on and start
planning
now for this event. Best costume wins a prize. Officers of Fort Worth will be having a planning
meeting to
get our event in order as to assist the E-Board with all the plans for this event.
Be sure and search out the info in
this
newsletter for the workshop that the E-Board and Lockheed are
putting together. This event will feature Meghan the wonderful and well-known dance instructor
at
Lockheed and one of the swing community’s well known wonderful instructors Terry
Roseborough (TRose). I
believe that Meghan will be teaching Rumba and Terry will be doing beginner and intermediate
levels of
West Coast Swing. Can’t wait this will be good.
Friday
night... we have decided to visit our
sister chapter the Westside Shufflers at Electric Cowboy’s on
Friday nights for a while. As you know we usually leave around 9:30 to 10:00 as it gets
more crowded by
then and the restaurants clear out so it’s a win win situation for both of us.
Saturday night...you will find us at
The Horseman Club doing our thing. This is our home base so come out
and join us for a fun night of dancing and being with friends.
If you would like to be informed about upcoming events or reminders on top of the
dance announce list then send me your email address and I will see that you get a
reminder. We have more workshops coming up and you need to be informed about
these. A lot of time is spent putting these together for you and I know if you just know
about them sooner you would want to attend. Ron and I and Donnie and Melinda and
so many others have gone to so many workshops over the years and I never come away
without some new knowledge or a reminder of something I knew to do but just had let
that idea or technique slip away. You know we are not getting any younger and the
minds are starting to go...so come to the workshops to try and stay ahead of this old age
thing.
We are looking for ideas for a road trip. We love taking these short weekend
excursions around Texas. If you know of a fun club you have been to before and
it’s a town we can drive to on a Saturday, dance that night at the club and
see some sights the next day in the area and then drive back let me know. We
