Dear Friends and Dance Family,

As I write today, Larry has been gone for one month. It has been a long and tiring journey since January 20, when we learned of his cancer. But then, at times, it seems like only a few days since I sat in the waiting room as the doctor was telling me the results of Larry's surgery. We had to put a lot of living into whatever time that we would have remaining together. As it was, it was only a short six and one half weeks. We were fortunate to have loving family and friends from all areas of our life to help us along the way.

The family of TCWDA friends was one of our life lines of support. "Thank you" seems so small for all that you did for us, and for me, during Larry's illness and passing. All the calls, emails, cards, and visits were a huge source of comfort to us during the most difficult time of our life. One evening was spent reliving memories and sharing thoughts with the group that came to visit. They brought a boot and balloon arrangement from the board which everyone had signed. That was a beautiful evening for both of us.

Larry had served for several years on the E-Board of TCWDA, and was very proud of its progress during the early years. He believed in the purpose of the organization and wanted very much for its work to continue. Thank you for honoring him with The Lifetime Membership Award. We cherish the love and friendship from each of you. My journey will not be complete until an undefined point in time, so I ask for your continued support. We do not have a promise of tomorrow, so hug your loved one TODAY.

My love, thanks, and sincere appreciation to every one of you.

I love you all.

Joyce

Note from your Prez…RON

I want to say thanks to the Midland/Odessa Chapter for being the wonderful friendly dance family that they are As usual they took care of all the TCWDA members that attended the workshop that Beki and I taught. We also appreciated the help our chapter member Lynda Kauffman and E-Board President John Vislosky gave to our workshop. They assisted in the class with instructional guidance. It was a really HOT…HOT…HOT workshop as the kitchen caught on fire. John V. put out the fire though and the workshop went on. John also had a visit from a lights flashing State Trouper as we drove to Odessa. The very lucky John V. had a Red State Trouper donator sticker on his van and as a result he only got a warning. Let me tell you Beki and I both now have those stickers on both our cars I only hope it will work as well for us! We played an April fools joke on John V. When he came to pick us up for the trip to Odessa we had every piece of luggage we own by the front door and John saw this and went. Oh my Gosh! If you know Beki, taking 8 luggage bags for a 2 day trip would not be unbelievable. Lynda was in on the joke so to get Beki back, John made siren sounds the whole weekend long and Beki kept looking around for the police car that must be pulling us over again. She fell for it every time. A great weekend trip with our dance friends, both Fort Worth and our Midland/Odessa family.

Six Flags Over Texas Dance Day

The Fort Worth Chapter is planning a fun day at Six Flags Over Texas on Saturday, May 14th. We will meet at 3:00 P.M. and try to drive in and park as a group. Ride the tram to the gates and let the fun begin. We have done this in small groups in years past and had a blast. Except that it’s really hard to keep up with Melinda Stewart’s stamina. At one point she had Donnie and I were pretty nauseous. After a day at the flags and a night under the stars (I love the place at night) we will probably leave and crawl into our cars and either go eat dinner somewhere or make our way home exhausted but with warm sugar plums dancing in our heads. Any chapter member is welcome. Come join us for our Six Flags day.

Get out there and dance…

A NEW LINE DANCE CALLED MEMORIES

Josie from the Midland/Odessa chapter taught Lynda and I a new line dance that is so cute.  This is a rumba rhythm and what I really love about it is that is flows with correct choreography.  You will see us doing it and if we have enough interest I will teach a class on this and then you can join us.
