Howdy from the Lester Ranch!
Bet ya’ll didn’t expect to hear from us again. Beki Crider had a family
emergency come up and asked if we could knock out an article for this month.
We said "sure, you bet."
We’ve
had a pretty solid month of dancing at the Horseman and one night dancing at
the Renaissance Worthington Hotel for the Teachers of the Hearing-Impaired of
Texas. Mrs. Trail Boss and I put on some fine looking duds and went to
downtown Cowtown to do our part. Our Chapter Prez Ron Crider set up a "doin’s"
for these fine folks at their yearly get-together. The group there consisted
of Lynda Kauffman and her "main man" E-Board Prez John Vislosky, Ron
and Beki Crider, Don Stearns, Donnie and Melinda Stewart and Cheryl and I.
Donnie and Melinda Stewart wowed the crowd with a high-energy, dynamite East
Coast Swing. Don Stearns and Beki Crider did a fantastic Night Club Two Step.
Cheryl and I did a Waltz and, of course, my better half was terrific. I
managed not to screw the whole thing up. Ron and Beki Crider did a superb West
Coast Swing. John and Lynda put a great two-step on the floor and the crowd
loved every couple’s performance.
One of the interpreters taught us to ask, "Would you like to
dance?" in sign language. Beki used this to bring all of the teachers out
to the floor to learn the two-step. A line dance taught by Suzanne McGowan was
also offered up to the receptive crowd. These folks picked up on the two
dances as well or better than any crowd I’ve ever witnessed. Two of these
ladies were overheard singing "Save A Horse, Ride a Cowboy" after
eyeballing one of our dancers in a hat and boots. I reckon they had a good
time.
By the time ya’ll read this, we will have had a wingding of a workshop at
the Horseman Club and a wondermus pool party at the Crider’s Hacienda.
We’re looking forward to the cruise in October. I hope everyone who
wanted to go has already booked. I don’t know if there are any cabins left.
If you still want to go, you can give it a shot by giving Karen Keys a call at
817-368-2343. Good Luck!
See ya’ll on the dance floor.
John Lester,
Honorary Trail Boss
