A TRIBUTE TO JIM COUCHMAN

A couple of weeks ago, I made a statement to Lynda Kauffman and John, our trail boss, that I wanted to do a tribute to Jim Couchman. John then asked me . . . "Would you like to write the next article?" Never in my wildest dreams was I expecting that. So I sat down at the computer and tried to start writing by tribute. I couldn't do it. The word just wouldn't come. I guess I couldn't put my feelings into words. I'm going to attempt it away.

Jim left us in March. I can still see him sitting on his stool at the rail along the dance floor. That was his spot. I learned so much from him. He always allowed me to play when we did West Coast Swing. In fact, that was where I learned how to do the very few "plays" moves, I know how to do. And cha was a real challenge. We could both laugh at our mistakes in dancing. It didn't matter. We were having fun.

I know Jim is in heaven continuing his dancing. In fact, he's probably teaching someone up there how to dance. He is very sorely missed down here. He was such an inspiration to be around. He always had a smile on his face. Rest in peace, my friend. You are thought of every day of the week.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN LAKE PARTY

On July 4, Jeff and Trish invited us again to their gorgeous home on Eagle Mountain Lake. Jeff cooked hamburgers and hot dogs and everyone else brought their favorite dish to complement the meal. Some people there even went on boat rides on the lake. I know I saw two boats. Jeff and Trish have a beautiful dock from their yard and a beautiful grassy lawn that we all enjoyed while watching the fireworks display. Ron Crider put on an awesome fireworks display for us as well as Jeff and Trish's neighbors. In addition we could see off in the distance all the many, many boats that were just sitting on the lake watching the fireworks display that Eagle Mountain Lake does. It was gorgeous. The only thing, I wouldn't want to be out on the lake when the fireworks were over. The boat traffic was unreal.

Ron Crider set off some of his fireworks from the wooden dock and I think when it was all over, the dock was actually smoldering. Luckily, someone had a canned drink to pour on it to put it out. Jeff came out on the dock and told them . . . "there was a bucket hanging from the dock." I guess they forgot to look for one.

RON AND BEKI'S POOL PARTY

Hannah, the wonder dog, has again agreed to let us use her swimming pool for the party. Ron and Beki Crider have schedule their annual pool party this year for August 16. We always have such a wonderful time at their parties. And Hannah even goes swimming with us. Beki says she sleeps really well when we all leave.

Ron made us smoothies of all kinds. They were mmmmmgood! Those of us who have attended past pool parties have many humorous stories to tell. Ask someone to tell you about the time that Melinda Stewart blow Dino up. Oh by the way, Donnie Stewart told Ron that everyone pees in the pool. But Ron said not everybody does it from the diving board.

Come out and join us. We have a great time.
