WHERE TO DANCE in Fort Worth
The Horseman Club

Beginner’s Luck 5
I
got the shock of my dancing life the other day. I realized I’m no longer
considered a beginner. Hunh? I’m still a baby when it comes to dancing, but
there are actually dancers out there now who have been dancing less time than I
have. That’s really incredible to me. It seems like yesterday when I started,
instead of over a year ago.
The Ft. Worth Chapter sponsored "Dance Your
Best Dance" contest at Electric Cowboy (Beki) was a success. There was a
good turnout and some great dancing. Don Myers worked the DJ booth, while Ted
Myers MC’d the whole show and Chris Myers kept everything running smoothly.
Thank you for all of your work. Thanks also to Vera Hancock who graciously
agreed to head the Judging and to the judges who worked so hard to make the
whole thing fair and fun. The judges were Don Hancock, Cheryl Lester, Lisa
Herrington, Chuck Herrington and Betty Anderson. Thank you, it was fun
So
do you want to know who won? Well, Kay and "T" won the beginners
division, Melissa Stewart (Melinda and Donnie’s daughter) and her partner
Jacob won the intermediate division, and Sallie Spontanski and her partner Ron
won the advanced division. Then they did the drawing for the trip from the 3
winners and Melissa and Jacob won the trip. Melinda’s really excited about her
daughter going off to Jamaica!
The
Ft. Worth Chapter also attended the Sleazy Bar Party. Believe it or not, it was
a lot of fun. Our Trail Boss was decked out in tight jeans and leather vest and
his "squeeze" (Cheryl of course) looked so good she couldn’t have
been considered sleazy at all. We danced and played games and had a great time.
Oh, and a quick note
about The Horseman’s new owner. Rex
seems to be a very reasonable guy who is trying to get a handle on a new
business. He has introduced himself to all of us and has been open to talking to
us when we have questions or concerns. Our Trail Boss asked me to remind
everyone that free cover charge is a PRIVELEGE, NOT A RIGHT. The clubs honor our
cards because they choose to, not because they have to. We’ll try to keep
everyone up to date regarding any changes that are being made. In the meantime,
let’s give Rex a chance to figure out that we’re an asset to his club just
as his club is an asset to us.
Don’t forget our trip to Midland/Odessa with Beki and Ron at
the end of May and our lake party in June. Be sure to check out the "What’s
Happening" for details on our chapter’s happenings, as well as the other
Chapter’s.
