WHERE TO DANCE in Fort Worth
The Horseman Club

2002

HAVING ENTERED THE new millennium, we are bombarded with contradictory information about what it means to grow old. News reports of people living longer than ever are compared to horror stories of life in nursing homes and elders wishing for death. Inspiring anecdotes of energetic 85-year-old marathon runners or CEO or composers who seem as young as ever are followed on the nightly news by stories on the barrenness of life in gated retirement communities filled with decrepit old people who feel superfluous. Will the longevity granted to us by modern medicine be a curse or a blessing? How can we control our last years? These are the questions for which we need answers.

Well, my answer to that is "LET THEM EAT CAKE AND JUST DANCE." As far as I am concerned, dancing is the cure to all ailments. And further more, if you dance with your TCWDA family and have your cake, too, wow! Life just doesn't get any better than that. I think I can safely say, that we may miss work because we are ill, but you can bet we will make it to the club to dance or even go out of town on a road trip. There was one trip to Oklahoma City for the Fun Country Finals and our President, Mr. Trailboss himself, John Lester was seriously ill. But not to fear because as most of you know, I usually carry a medical bag with me and we kept dosing him with medication. We would get him up to eat or dance a little (very therapeutic for the body and soul) and then give him drugs and put him to bed. This went on for the whole weekend. Boy was that a fun weekend. We keep telling John that... He doesn't remember too much or he may have blocked it out. Oh, well...

THE HORSEMAN CLUB, OUR HOME

Can you believe here we are in 2002? I still can't believe that it has been two years since we were so worried about the Y2K problem. We have been enjoying ourselves at our home base "The Horseman Club" and the time has just flown by. We couldn't have been given a better present than to have Frank open up our club again. We have really always considered this place our home. For years we had to float around trying different clubs and establishing a home base only to have the club close and start all over again. Thank you again Frank, for a wonderful present to Fort Worth Dancers everywhere, but a special thanks from the Fort Worth Chapter of Texas Country and Western Dance Association.

ROAD TRIPS

Road trips are still on the agenda table. If you would like to plan a road trip or have some ideas of a short overnight trip to dance somewhere and sites to see the next day before returning, let one of the officers know and we will check it out. Even better is if you plan it and check out hotels, the dance club, and get the information on interesting sites to visit. Then all we have to do is set a date and get the information out to our members. We all love road trips and they are always open to all chapter members.

FW E-Board Wish

We would like to wish all our competition dancers good luck for this year in all their competitions and to the rest of our members, we hope you have a happy and successful 2002 both on and off the dance floor.

Valentine's Dance

We will celebrate this special day on Saturday, February 16th at The Horseman Club. We will have a theme dress that night of Red and White. The Chapter will provide a special treat for all our members. See you there!

DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY!

Come and enjoy your weekend with us at The Horseman Club. We are over by the DJ booth and would like to meet all our new members. If you are not sure who we are, ask management and they will point you in the right direction. Come and join in the fun of Fort Worth and TCWDA.

Still holding my flag high and waving it proudly!
