Howdy from the Lester Ranch! I reckon it's been long enough since ya'll have heard from the Foat Wurth Trail Boss, so grab a chaw and find ya' a spot around the far.
Our chapter members (drovers) have been having a great time at the Horseman as usual. I've seen many of 'em showing good improvement in their dance floor abilities. Some are out there trying new shuffle moves, and some are giving a shot at dances that they are not comfortable with. Dern near all are coming off the floor smiling and laughing about it while a couple are wondering "what did I do wrong". I'll let ya'll in on a poorly kept secret. Everybody, great dancers and not so great, have all messed up big time and they just keep working on it. The best way I've found to get help is to just go up to a dancer who can do something you're trying to do and ask for help.
The folks you ask will be flattered that you want their advice and will be plum tickled to show you anything they can. I ain't kiddin - - it works!
Ya'll have heard about Beki and Ron Crider's pool party they have each year and if you're readin this and you weren't there, you missed a hoot of a good time. Ron and Beki have put in a few zillion hours and dern near that many bucks in fixin up their hacienda this year. This place looks great. We had more food, both healthy and just plain decadent, that we would eat in a week. Everybody who showed up brought something and I gave it my best shot to try it all. While it took me all night, I'll say I did not miss a try at everything I could get my grubby paws on. Several of us ignored Mom's warning and jumped in the pool with full bellies. We had a great time playing no rules water volleyball. Lots of folks just sat around visiting and holding their full bellies. Can't blame 'em one bit. Ron and Beki deserve a big THANK YOU from all of us who look forward to the survivor pool party each year. No, we did not play Liars Club on account of folks were coming and going all night. I reckon we never got aroundtoit.
On September 15 we are planning a midnight picnic at a park not far from the Horseman that will start when we all darn well feel like it. Probably not at 12 midnight, but we'll have a blast anyway. For those of you still trying to figure out why so many of us leave the club early to go eat, you need to come with us and find out for yourselves. Just ask someone who has been to dinner with us and you will find out what good time we have around the dinner table. The conversations run from dance to car wrecks, job hunting and the latest ailments such as "John, what the heck is that." It was just a spider bite, really.
I reckon it's time to bed down this herd and pour cold coffee on the far. Ya'll remember to climb out of the saddle now and then to put your boots on the dance floor. It does a body good.
