Summer Time Easy! Summer Time and the Dancing...is EASY and Breezy. May 4th brought several Chapter members to Horseman for our Friday social. What we didn't know was that a storm was raging outside of our little haven. We live for dance and at our Horseman that's what we get and then some. Cory is doing a great job with our music and playing songs for us. We really appreciate all the staff and the General Manager Frank. They treat us really special and our numbers are growing because of it. Remember to come and introduce yourself to at least one of us and we will take over from there. Our area is by the DJ booth. We would love to meet you!
TCWDA Workshop at Horseman
Don Stearns of the Executive Board put on his first workshop of the year and from what I hear it was a great success. He obtained the teaching services of Paula Atherton as the instructor of the day. She taught two-step, waltz, west-coast swing and a styling class. Ron and I could not attend as we had a family wedding that day right in the middle of the workshop, but from what I hear you learned a lot and received some very good technique and patterns. Several people come up to us and have expressed a desire to dance like we do and I'm going to tell you what I tell them and that is to take lessons anywhere and everywhere you can and if you can possibly take them from experienced people like Paula Atherton, you will have greater success. She is a very special person and we are very lucky to have her in our area. Way to go Don! A first place showing right out of the chute!
Midland/Odessa President Comes to Town
The President of the Midland/Odessa Chapter, Roy Jones came and danced with us Friday and Saturday nights. He came up for the workshop and called Mary Higgins and she joined him for the classes and dancing at Horseman. I wish we could have visited with him more than just Friday night, but we had the family wedding with a ton of family in for the festivities. I know our FW family took care of Roy and Mary for us. I would personally have loved to show him our loving chapter family hospitality myself, but I didn't need to worry, all of you took over and did what you always to best...just be your friendly loving selves. Maybe next time we can get more of them here and we can be as wonderful and gracious as they are for us when we are there.
POOL PARTY
Remember the pool party is August 11th at my house. We'll discuss food and other things about the party closer to the time and definitely in the July issue. Have your summer fun, but come back to Horseman ready for a bust our goal fall.
Road Trips
Road trips are happening! Each chapter has things planned. Some are open to anyone and most are open to all members. Be sure and let a chapter know if you are attending one of their functions. Check your calendar in the back of the newsletter for information. Fort Worth is planning a trip to East Texas. Judy and James Eason had a great idea for a road trip and I think we are going to build on it. If you have an idea for a road trip or some other idea for a function, talk to an officer of the chapter, and the best way to make it happen is to do all the research, present it to us and we'll make it happen.
Have a great June and we'll see you ..." DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY " at The Horseman!
