"A Salute to our President"

The Fort Worth Chapter would like to express our gratitude to Don Stearns for two wonderful years as the President of our chapter. He has lead us to new heights as a chapter of TCWDA. We have more than doubled our membership in just the last year alone. Don has been our ambassador to other chapter functions and also at the E-Board meetings, plus has honored us well on the competition floor and also on the social dance floor. Don has gone on to the E-Board to perform his talent for all of TCWDA. I could say that we will miss him, but he is and will always be a member of the FW Chapter (The Unsophisticated) so you will see him on a bar stool next to you every Friday and Saturday night at The Horseman and that makes this FW chapter (Unsophisticated) very happy.

Christmas and New Years Parties

The annual FW Christmas party was held at my house. It was a pot luck affair everyone brought a covered dish, dessert or whatever. Guess who furnished the chips? The agenda for the party was eating, liars game, eating, election of officers, eating, etc. and eating.

Our new President (Trail Boss Mr., Lester) is the Champion of Champions in the liar's game. Mr. Lester really does confuse the panels that are trying to find out who is lying.

A good time was had by all and we are looking forward to the next Christmas party.

Several of the FW Members attended the Cowboys Country Club New Years Party at the Clarion Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. We all had a great time, CCC puts on a great party.

Howdy, Pardners!

As you all know, the country and the Fort Worth Chapter have cast their votes and both ended up with a Texan. After a number of years as a Vice President, our faithful members have chosen me as their new Chapter President. My first order of business will be to change the name of the office (unofficially) to Trail Boss. I reckon this makes the Vice Presidents ramrods, but that is up to them. My wife, Cheryl, and I have been members of TCWDA since 1993. For those of you who don't know, Cheryl is in charge of membership for the association.

I'd like all members to feel free to drop me a line at my e-mail address What357@aol.com or give me a call at home 817-232-0174. I'd like to hear from the new folks that I don't know well. The Fort Worth Chapter would love to see new active members get involved with every roundup, horse shoeing and rodeo we have. Please track me down at the Horseman Club, we are out there every Friday and Saturday night. I'm the scrawny gray-haired cowboy with a silver belly hat.

JOHN LESTER, Trail Boss

Editorial

The Fort Worth Chapter is not any different from other organizations except the core is dance. What you put in the Chapter is what you will get back with interest.

Participation does not mean that you have to be a competition level dancer. A good friend on mine once said, "there are no bad dancers, only dancers with more floor time." There are many areas within the Chapter or Association where you can participate. A couple of suggestions: Try helping a beginning dancer with a new step or move. Dancing with a beginning dancer, without criticism, unless asked.

When I designed this site, I included an E-mail to the Editor page. This is your page. Anyone can submit an article to be included on this page. I will exercise editorial privilege and restrict the content of an article to dance subjects, matters concerning the Fort Worth Chapter or the Association. Reprints of motivational or self-help articles will not be published.

Articles that identify problems within the Chapter or Association. Your solution to the identified problem should also be included.

Suggest activities that the Chapter or Association is not currently involved. Indicate how the activity would be of benefit to the Chapter or Association and how the activity could be implemented.

Let's hear from you.

Bob O.
