The Survivors Annual Pool Party

The Fort Worth Chapter had its annual Survivor Pool Party on our island on Saturday, August 19th. We call it the Survivor Pool Party because we are still here after more than 10 years and most of our members have been with the chapter almost from its beginning. We are survivors of the big times, the low times, the abundant club times and the no club times and yet, we not only survive, but we grow strong in our dance, friendships and commitment to our chapter. We now dance not just country, but all venues (all ballroom dances including several of us are now taking Argentine Tango and all swing dances).

Our pool party had dancers of all ages. We are now into our next generation of dancers, as our children have grown up and are joining the chapter. I know that makes me so happy that they would want to join our dancing family. We had four possible new members come to the party and we hope they will decide to join our group. I thought that the cops were going to pay us a visit as we were kind of loud and if was after midnight, but no one came. Melissa Stewart, daughter of Donnie and Melinda did bloody her boyfriend's nose. I think she was doing a dance move, at least that's the story and she's sticking to it! We did miss some of the old regulars, but we had new people to take their place. At last count we had 29 members present, plus guests. Hannah the wonder dog did play ball with us and swim until she gave it all up around 1:30 A.M. when she was plum tuckered out. She slept in until almost 10:00 A.M. the next day.

If you missed the party this year, remember it is always around the middle of August.

    Highlights:
      1) Chris Hopkins with a black and blue face.
      2) Everyone with lumps on their heads from the ball.
      3) My poor flower pot with flattened flowers-no big deal, if left up to me they would surly  die.
      4) Hannah drinking the special FW Chapter drink when no one was watching their cup.
      5) Donnie Stewart traversing the neighbor's back yard with a flashlight at midnight in his mature cut speedo and number.
      6) Watching our guest have a good time.

Card Carries Clout!

One of our newer members was surprised when his TCWDA Card actually did one of the many things it was supposed to do. Clay Gill used our membership card at several supporting merchants and to his amazement, he saved a big, big, big, chunk of money. So don't forget to use your card when buying those new pair of jeans. Let them know TCWDA is alive and well and dancing fine.

Welcome New Members

The FW members want to extend a big welcome to our new members and remember: "FRIENDS ARE QUIET ANGELS who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly!"
