Hey FW Chapter members! How are you doing this summer? With a lot of people on vacation during the summertime, we don't get to see each other very much. I hope you are having a good time.

If you have tried to access our web site, you have been disappointed. We have had some malfunctions. An alternative web site was discussed at the All Chapter Meeting. During the time between the All Chapter Meeting and our next meeting, we gathered all the necessary information. At the next meeting the alternate web site was discussed, voted on and the check was written. Well, we now have our own domain web site. Bob Ough, our web site architect and service manager is installing new computers and will have our new site up and running shortly. You will be able to access our old site and will be directed to our new site. In next month's article I will give you our new site web address. I think you are going to love it!

Wedding Bells

Bells Rang and Birds Chirped Well, we did the wedding thing this month. We had a wonderful road trip to College Station for the beautiful wedding of Chris Hopkins Daughter, Amanda to Corbin Wickman. It was held on the campus of TEXAS A&M University in a beautiful chapel with a packed congregation. They played the most beautiful wedding march I have ever heard and knew instantly I wanted to use it at my son's wedding.

After the ceremony and we made our way over to the reception, we were serenaded by the chiming of the bells of A&M as a tribute to Amanda and Corbin. The reception was held at Rudder Tower on the 11th floor. This is a beautiful reception room with a view on all four sides, one of which was a hardwood dance floor. George Arndt was the DJ for the affair and played wonderful dance music for us and the other dancers. The food was awesome and I loved the Margarita punch so much that I got the waiter to get the recipe from the chef for me. We stayed for the weekend and danced at Aggie Hall. A few of our members were feeling no pain if you know what I mean. It was a good thing. We had designated drivers. A great time was had by all in Aggie Land.

Wedding Bells Again

Two weeks later we did the wedding thing again. This time it was our (Ron and Beki's) son, Cody marrying Cara Kadleck. They said their I do's at home under a canopy of garlands and twinkle lights covering a white coach like gazebo built up and extending over part of the pool. There were twinkle lights in trees and on the fence all around and flowering baskets sitting and hanging all around.

Ron built it all and made it seem like a fairy tale setting, perfect for a wedding. The only problem was, it had been raining for days. At the last minute, literally, (as we had chapter members running around setting everything up outside) the rain stopped, it cleared, the moon was out, a beautiful sunset in the west and a wedding took place. The rain stayed away all night and the reception was great.

Hannah, the wonder dog, (in her white/silver lace ensemble) was our ring bearer.  She did a wonderful job and then because her work was so hard, she decided to get a drink out of the pool for what seemed like five minutes.

We had 97 people sign the guest register and more I know that didn't, yet the caterer never let us run out of food. The last guests left around 2:00 A.M. and Ron and I crashed and burned.

I want to thank Chris Hopkins for overnighting the special bridal march to me from her daughter in Houston and Josh Meredith, a tech support at FlashNet.  He came over wedding rehearsal night and showed me how to change a winamp music file to a wav file so I could burn a CD with all our wedding music so I could program the songs played before during and after the wedding. All of my chapter members who (and I have you on tape so don't deny it) were running around like ants doing all sorts of things, from electrical, setting up chairs around pool, making Margarita punch, keeping my family and friend's happy while we waited on the weather and all the other things I don't know that you did, but so appreciate. Don Stearns was on the roof filming, John Lester was all over the place with a video camera and Fred Blundell was my photo man of the night. Fred was still taking pictures at midnight when Cody and Cara started opening gifts brought to the wedding. Both videos and the still shots came out excellent. Thank you all for being a part of my family. You will never know how much you are loved and appreciated. You gave to Ron and me and our family a precious gift, your time and your love. Thank you.

Chapter Meeting and New Member Meeting

Our Chapter Meeting, New Member get together and our preview of Don Stearns new house was a great success. We had chicken, fruit, salads and leftover wedding cake. Don's house is great and has a perfect place for a hot-tub on the patio decking with two sets of sliding doors for a circular dance floor. Our next big outing will be back at my house for our annual pool party in August or the tail-end of July. The date will be in next months Country in Touch. We also will have some impromptu late night swim -n- eat parties after we finish dancing on a Friday or Saturday night at Horseman'. We only live about a mile from there.

Contest News

Betty Cherry won 1st place over all in the UCWDC Orlando event. She dances Pro-Am with Jayson Booth. We want to congratulate her on this win. Betty Cherry and Don Stearns will be going to New Orleans for the UCWDC event there in July. We want to wish them both well.

Dance Lessons

Dance Lesson News DanceMakers is giving TCWDA members a 10% discount on dance lessons. Norman and Julie are bringing in top class instructors to our area and we are very foolish indeed not to be taking advantage of these professionals. The prices are more than reasonable and the studio is wonderful. Most of the FW Chapter has been taking these workshops for a couple of years now and you will see us again there this Saturday for Lee Harpe. Hope to see you there.

Gene Willman is starting a new Beginner and Intermediate West Coast Swing (Push) six week series at Electric Cowboy. The first class will meet on July 9th. Beginners' start at 4:00 P.M., Intermediate starts at 5:00 P.M. and is over at 6:00 P.M. The price to TCWDA members is $20.00 per person, nonmembers $25.00. Click here to go to Gene's web site.
