Ron and I and John and Cheryl Lester would like to thank all the members of the Midland/ Odessa Chapter and our San Angelo friends for one of the most wonderful weekends, we have ever had. I promise you will never find a more friendly family of dancers than those we discovered in West Texas. From the moment Richard picked us up at the hotel, the four of us were in special hands and the entire weekend was smoothly orchestrated as only an organized group of people can do.
John and Cheryl went with us to Midland/ Odessa to help teach the two-step pattern (the garage sale move), a waltz pattern and yes, the Mambo #5. The four of us enjoyed teaching them as much as I hope they enjoyed our classes. Thank you John and Cheryl for your help and support. John is a FW Chapter Vice-President and Cheryl handles all the membership for The E-Board of TCWDA.
Saturday night Ron and I performed a medley for the M/O Chapter at the Stardust Ballroom. What a fun group to dance for.
Chuck and Pat of the M/O Chapter sent us a copy of the workshop and exhibition. It is great because we can see our friends and remember the fun we had.
Charlie, Linda, Jory (Stockyards) and Zanelle (Fort Worth), were going to go, but sometimes those things called jobs that enable us to do all the dancing, do get in the way! Ron and I and John and Cheryl are going back next year, so make your plans now! . This is a trip you will not want to miss.
Ask Ron and John how we missed Odessa by 30 miles and also almost ran out of gas. They've got a story and they are sticking to it.
To all our friends in Midland/Odessa and San Angelo, thank you for a most wonderful time. What a let down we all suffered on Monday after being treated like royalty. We love you!
Weddings, Weddings, Weddings
Boy are we getting old! Chris Hopkins daughter Amanda is getting married on May 27th at Texas A&M University All Faiths Chapel in College Station, Texas. Several of us are going down for the event and we will also be making another road trip out of it. Those of us that could make the road trip will attend the ceremony and reception. TCWDA's DJ George Arndt will provide the music for the reception. Guess what, we are going dancing that night.
Ron's and my son, Cody will be married on June 10th. A pool side wedding will be at our home, 5813 Whitman at 8:00 P.M. All of the FW Chapter is invited to attend. We have a special ring bearer and that would be, Hannah the wonder dog.
We hope she doesn't decide to take a dip in the pool (after all she thinks that pool is all hers).
Competition Results
I'm sure we will be seeing Betty Cherry competed with Pro Jayson Booth in a Fun Country Event in Wichita Kansas. She won 1st Place Overall in Adult Beginner with a Silver in Two-step and Cha-cha, Gold in Waltz and Gold with Honors in East Coast.
Don Stearns competed at The Texas Classic in Houston the weekend of May 12-14. He won 2nd Place overall with Golds in Polka, Two-step, West Coast, and Cha-cha and a silver in Waltz. He also danced with Jeanette in the couples division IV. They received a 1st place in Cha-cha and third place in two-step, waltz, and West Coast. Congratulations to both of them.
